Densely textured and organically ornate, the dreamlike audiovisual creations of Nueve Vidas & Rimiyoho merge rich analog sound and melted machine noise with colourfully naturalistic visuals rendered into life in real-time.
Drawing on his background as an electronic engineer, Nueve Vidas specializes in the live performance of analog and modular digital synthesis.
His hybrid approach to crafting complex sound narratives produces glitchy, broken and ever-evolving rhythms and melody. He's one half of modular electronic project Alias 616 with Rodrigo de León Garza of Mexico City A/V duo Erreopeo and collaborates on the neopsychedelia of freeform improvising and recording group Free Energy Device.
Rimiyoho is Fernando Sica's projection painting project, exploring ephemeral art in motion. Painting and animating real-time projections on buildings, stages and urban spaces, Rimiyoho freely improvises with shapes, colours and compositions. He's performed live and lead workshops in digital graffiti at cultural and commercial events in Mexico, Germany, China and United States, including recent performances at Mexico's Circulo de Oro Festival and the CENART Arts Library Opening, and has shown his work at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago.
At MUTEK they transported audiences with audiovisual experiment Oniric Organisms (Dream Organisms). Science meets the sacred as Nueve Vidas coaxes hybrid modular sounds to life within a garden of Rimiyoho's real-time mandala-like imagery.
